Rem Viktorovich Khokhlov (born on July 15, 1926 - died on August 8, 1977) - outstanding Soviet physicist, one of the founders of nonlinear optics. From 1973 until 1977 he was the rector of Moscow State University. Foreign member of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1976).
