Sir H. C. Englefield, Bart., 1818. Chantrey was the outstanding British portrait sculptor of his time. He combined careful observation and a penetrating study of character with a neoclassical simplicity of form. Baronet Henry Charles Englefield (1752-1822) was well-known for his interest in antiquities and his writings on scientific subjects.
