Anti-AIDS activists of Act Up-Paris, Hung a huge Banner on a Paris Bridge in View of the BIg Anti-Gay Marriage Demonstration, to protest, what they claim to be really a Homophobic Demonstration by the Conservative Political and Religious opposition. Press Release form Act Up Paris, 13 Jan. 2013 "Homophobia = Death" Today, the reactionaries of all kinds and of all political stripes have been pouring into the streets of Paris with their homophobic and transphobic hate, crystallized in the refusal to establish a law of equality between heterosexual and LGBT couples on marriage and filiation. The current rejection of the right to marriage and filiation formalizes and legitimizes State sponsored homophobia going on for too long, and that we can no longer accept. This climate of generalized homophobia and transphobia, constantly tells us that to them, some lives are worth less than others- ours. Because our lives are less valuable than others, we die. We die when LGBT youth suicides are proportionally more frequent than other youths. We die when taking sexual risks, constantly growing in our communities. We die when infection rates among trans women and queers are at record highs. We die when the majority’s contempt for minorities deprives us of our fundamental rights.
