Deep Quest rescue submersible, 1968. The Deep Quest rescue submersible prototype was built in the mid-1960s by the US company Lockheed Corporation, as part of plans to develop deep submergence rescue vehicles (DSRVs) to rescue submarine crews. Deep Quest was used in several salvage operations until its retirement in 1980. Here, it is shown prior to a descent to 2500 metres on 28 February 1968.
