GULF (Nov. 14, 2016) Petty Officer 1st Class Benjamen Echols performs a fire extinguisher system check on a F/A-18E Surper Hornet assigned to the Gunslingers of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 105 in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike). Echols serves aboard Ike as an aviation structural mechanic. Ike and its Carrier Strike Group are deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
