In 1873 he was nominated for on theticket headed by Chas. R. lugersoll of New Haven, and was elected by a handsomemajority; and re-elected to the .same office in 1874-7o-T6. In 1882. Gov. Sill waselected to the Gen. Assembly as representative from Hartford, and was the Demo-cratic nominee for Speaker of the House. In March, 1888, he was nominated byPrcs. Cleveland as U. S. Dist. Atty. for the Dist. of Conn., and was confirmed bythe Senate, and is still (Mch., 18!I2) serving as such. In commercial and financialcircles he h;is always been prominent, and is identified with some of the mostim]iortant financial and commercial concerns of Hartford and vicinity.
