Ascension (Zenkov) Cathedral dome and chandelier, wooden nailess, 1906, Panifilov Park, Almaty, Kazakhstan


Ascension Cathedral, a Russian Orthodox cathedral is located in Panfilov Park, Almaty, Kazakhstan. The architect was Andrei Pavlovich Zenkov so it is also known as Zenkov Cathedral. It is built of wood of a nailess contruction, completed in 1907. It was used for government and public purposes after the Russian Revolution until it was restored as a church in 1997. There are many beautiful Orthodox Icons in the church.
