Citrus greening disease research. Researcher using a vacuum on a citrus tree to collect of Asian citrus psyllids (Diaphorina citri) for population monitoring. This insect transmits the bacteria that causes citrus greening disease. Also known as huanglongbing (HLB), this disease causes mottled leaves and small, bitter fruits that remain partly green even when ripe. There is no cure. This sampling being carried out by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the US Department of Agriculture. Photographed in the USA.
