The Venetian Resort, on the site of the Sands Hotel (1952-96) lies between Harrah's and the Palazzo, on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard South (the Las Vegas Strip). The resort features life-like replicas of the Doge's Palace, Clock Tower (seen here), St. Mark's Campanile, Rialto Bridge and Gondola rides. The building of the Venetian began in 1997 and the resort opened in 1999, at a cost of $ billion. making it one of the most expensive resorts of its king in the world. The production show 'Phantom' ran 2006-12.
