As the Jongpenhad not come to see us, Chheten Wangdi went over to findhim ; presently he came along with a basket of eggs andwith many apologies for not coming before, but he said thathe had had no warning of our arrival. This was but partlytrue, for though our passport did not particularly mentionthis place, it authorised all officials to help us to theu utmost,and the Jongpen certainly knew and had heard that we.
