The one in our list is the Madonna Lily which should receive a covering of 2 inches of soil only over the bulbs. For your guidance we have given the depth of planting for each species. Please note the delivery date on the different varieties which depends upon the time they mature. Unless you are prepared to care for those received in December please defer ordering until spring as the bulbs are so perishable that we cannot accept their return. It is an easy matter however to plant in the fall if the gardener will prepare his bed thoroughly before frost sets in. A cover of straw, hay, manure, etc., over the soil surface will keep the frost out until the bulbs arrive. Plant upon arrival and replace the cover material. Liliuni auratum—Gold Banded Lily of Japan
