Army 1st Lt. Michael White from South Kingstown , platoon leader of 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1-182nd Infantry Regiment of the Rhode Island National Guard, fires his M-4 rifle during a training mission near Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in Laghman province Afghanistan. White and other members of his platoon who work alongside Air Force personnel as part of the Laghman Provincial Reconstruction Team spent the day gaining valuable trigger time and training their Air Force counterparts on heavy weapons like the MK-19 grenade launcher and the .50 caliber machine gun.
