The amount received for the churchand lots was $15,500. lit was further decided at thismeeting to purchase ground on Haws Avenue for anew church building. This was done at a cost of $10,-858. The Church Council was instructed to secureplans for the proposed structure. These plans werepresented to the congregation on July 27th and wereadopted. Ground for the new building was brokenthe very next day. The cornerstone was laid on bun-day afternoon, September 10, 1905, by the pastor, inthe presence of a large congregation, the Rev. P. , president of Conference, delivering the N0RRIST0WN CONFERENCE 115 On September 2, 1906, k was formally dedicated tothe worship of Almighty God, the addresses being de-livered by the Rev. R. D. Roeder, of Butler, Pa., andthe Rev. I. Chantry Hoffman, of Philadelphia. Thebuilding, which is constructed along modified gothiclines, is an imposing brownstone structure 110 feetlong by 54 feet wide. Tt contains within its walls achurch auditorium with a seating capacity of ever 500and a Sunday-school room with a seating capacity ofalmost 1,000. The interior of the church, with itspale green walls and vaulted ceiling, its chestnutwoodwork, and its handsome chancel furnishings, isexceedingly churchly and beautiful. The Sunday-school room also is very agreeable to the eye and isadmirably adapted to Sunday-school purposes. Theapproximate cost of its erection was $44,000.
