Interpretative sign for The American Garden in Dulwich Park, laid out by Lt Col J J Sexby in the nineteenth century.

The American Garden in Dulwich Park was laid out in 1887 by Lt Col J J Sexby. American Gardens were popular during the Victorian period, incorporating plants introduced to England from America. The informal layout of curved beds and grass paths also shows the naturalistic influence of Gertrude Jekyll.
