He became one ofthe lessees of the South and Bklyn ferries in 1839; afterwardone of the managers of the Bklyn Union Ferry Co.; electedCo. Judge by Republicans a 2d time in 1864; w. d. that yr.;vice-pres. Kings Co. Inebriate Home in 1867 ; next yr. retired 43° Old Sands Street Church. to private life; d. at his residence, Aug. 23, 1879, in his 85th on the court-house and city-hall in Bklyn were placed athalf-mast.
