The boiler room, at one end, has its floor three feet lower than the greenhouse floor. I plan to run a 4-inch flow under the ridge, and to use 4-inch returns under the side benches. How many re- turns will be needed to heat the house for carnations? The mercury in this part of New York state frequently drops to zero, and occasionally to 12 or 15 degrees below zero. I propose to use 4-inch boiler tubes for piping, on account of their low cost in proportion to the radiating surface. B, C. M. A carnation house 16x40 feet can be heated by means of one 4-inch over- head flow and four 4-inch returns. WILL MEED A SEPABATE FLOW. I am erecting another greenhouse on my place and want some information in regard to the piping. A hot water sys- tem is used. The houses run east and west. The old house, A, is on the north side and is 20x60. The boiler is at the northwest corner of this house. The new house, B, is 9x60. Its north wall is the south wall of house A and is four feet high.
