This hall was dedicated to Dr Walker a former Kilbirnie physician, the Walker hall was a thriving dance hall in the 1950s. It played host to such famous names as Gerry and the Pacemakers and Billy Haley and his statue to William Walker stands outside the hall


A notable resident of Main Street was Dr William Walker, who was the local doctor and surgeon for over fifty years. When he died in 1885, the Thistle Lodge of Free Gardeners, of which Dr Walker was a member for 49 years, erected a memorial statue outside of his home on Main Street. The statue depicted the roman goddess of health “Hygeia” standing on a pedestal, on the base of the statue a carving of Dr Walker himself, and on the back the inscription “Wm Walker MD born 1807, Died 1885. Grateful memory of a live devoted to the wellbeing of people. The faithful physician.”
