Mythology, Legend - A Vintage colour illustration showing Pastorella, a mythical shepherdess who was the subject of ancient medieval troubadour central topic of the songs and stories was almost always the meeting of a knight with a shepherdess which generally had comical or bawdy consequences. The tales themselves came to be known as Pastorelas. They were supposedly invented by a travelling troubadour and jester born in Gascony, who spent most of his career in the courts of William X of Aquitaine.
