Army Casualty Transferred in Philippines. Army Casualty Transferred in Philippines. An American soldier, wounded in the Luzon operation, is transferred by Coast Guardsmen from their invasion transport to a landing craft, which serves as an ambulance to run casualties to a hospital ship. Coast Guard crews move swiftly to bring wounded men out from the beaches to temporary hospitalization aboard transports and LST's until such time as they can be moved to hospital ships.
