Arch of the Milky Way over the decommissioned Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST), with stars reflected in its dish. The European Southern Observatory's telescope is at lower right. These telescopes are part of ESO's La Silla Observatory, located an elevation of 2400 metres in northern Chile. SEST, a radio telescope, has a diameter of 15 metres. It was built in 1987 and decommissioned in 2003. Observations it made included the Milky Way galactic centre and the Magellanic Clouds. Photographed in November 2015.
