Previously to entering upon the consideration of the dis-eases arising from infection, and for which this book wasoriginally composed, a word or two may be said upon acondition of the womb, unfortunately of frequent preva-lence, called prolapsus uteri, or falling of the womb. Suchoccurrence may take place with single females as well aswith married, or those who have borne children. It maybe held as the result of debility; and according to the de-gree of descent is the inconvenience and suffering.
