Chiropody. Woman chiropodist presses and manipulates the sole of the foot of a woman patient, during an examination. The patient is seated on a reclinable couch. Chiropody is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and mal- functions of the feet. All ages may be treated, for problems which include ankle injuries, bunions and hammer toes, foot ulcers, toenail infections. Chiropodists are trained to use pharmaceutical drugs, dressings, and local anaesthetics. In some cases they may conduct surgery.
