In the evening on May 1st, the sixth annual season of the Multi-Media Fountain Park was opening in Warsaw. This year's opening show featured the "Mermaid of Warsaw" and told the story of the legend. The legend of the symbol of Warsaw, is said to have started when a mermaid who was swimming in the Vistula River, decided to rest on the shores. She fell in love with the city so much, she decided to stay. The local fisherman noticed something in the water was tangling nets and creating waves, so they wanted to capture the creature. Instead they fell in love with her singing. When a rich merchant trapped the mermaid, the fisherman rescued her.
