One of several abandoned old bungalows on St. John's island, Singapore.

St. John's Island is one of Singapore's southern island. It was used in its early days as a quarantine station for cholera cases detected among immigrants. From the mid 1950s, the island was used to house a penal settlement and a drug rehabilitation centre. In 1975, the island was once again transformed, this time as a tranquil getaway with swimming lagoons, beaches, picnic grounds and chalets, for urbanite Singaporeans. Today one can get away from the daily bustle in Singapore by catching a ferry from the Marina South Pier.
