Marlen Garcia baths daughter Yadira in front of their house in Rancheria Hidalgo, along the banks of the San Pedro y Pablo River
With known reserves of oil and natural gas diminishing rapidly at wells in the Gulf of Mexico and other places in the country, Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) has returned to areas of known gas and oil deposits on land and in the rivers of the Mexican state of Tabasco. The Centla Biosphere Reserve is the area where the state-run oil company is currently exploring and running into opposition from local environmentalists who fear more damage to the area's fragile ecosystem. Marlen Garcia baths her daughter Yadira Valencia in front of their house in Rancheria Hidalgo, along the banks of the San Pedro y Pablo River in the Centla Biosphere Reserve. Husband and father Josue Valencia looks on.
