Signs depicting the site of the Battle of Glen Shiel on 10 June 1719 between British government troops and the Jacobite Highland Clans and 300 Spaniards who had become allies. It resulted in a defeat for the Jacobites by Major General Joseph Wightman. Also know as the 'little rising' and 'The Nineteen' as it occurred in 1719 and the other two risings of 1715 ('The Fifteen') and 1745 ('The Forty-Five') were much larger and more significant. The Jacobite Risings were a series of uprisings, rebellions, and wars in Great Britain and Ireland occurring between 1688 and 1746.
