The seat of the mili-tary government of Paris was transferred to the Invalides in 1898. The Cour dHonneur, plain but imposing, is enclosed witharcades, adorned with paintings, by B. Masson, of scenes from thehistory of France, and with copies, by the brothers Baize (1835-47),of Raphaels frescoes in the Vatican, but all faded and the end of this quadrangle is the entrance to the church of St-Louis (p. 318).
