Ford GT 3 litres prototype


The Ford GT 3 litres has been build for the 1968 season by Alain Mann in conjonction with Ford Great Britain. The design have been in charge of Len Bailey. The Ford GT was powered by a 3 litres V8 Cosworth like the one used by Formula 1. It was mounted behind the cockpit, linked to a Hewland 5 speeds gearbox. The Ford GT has been involved in three 1968 races : BOAC with Bruce Mc Laren/ Mike Spence (retired) and Denis Hulme/Jochen Rindt (Didn't go), Nurburging 1000 km with Dick Attwood/Franck Gardner (retired) and Chris Irwing (seriously injured at the practice), Spa 1000 km with Franck Gardner/Hubert Hahne (retired)
