At that date the quotation for 96° test Cuba Centrifugals was per lb. and is now per lb. duty paid. On the cost and freight basis it was then 2 13/32c. per lb. ( duty paid) and is now 2 1/16C. per lb. c & f ( per lb. duty paid). As anticipated in our last review, 2 7/16c. per lb. c & f and per lb. duty paid have proved to be the high level of the fall season. Without coming nearer at than 26c. per 100 lbs. to the European parity, the market has rather rapidly declined during the month under review to per lb. which is 68c. per 100 lbs. below European parity. Such a course to the market during the late months of the year has been unknown in any previous year, when the usual coiirse of our market has been to rise to the parity of Europe before making its decline in anticipation of the new crops of Cuba and the domestic cane and beet crops.
