Minamisanriku (南三陸町) is a town in Motoyoshi District, Miyagi, Japan. It is a resort town on a coastline of wooded islands and mountainous inlets. The town was largely destroyed by the 2011 Tsunami and Earthquake with most buildings swept away by waves of over 16 metres high. Over half the town's population were reported dead or missing.
