William Hutton, of the Greenwich StreetChurch, was moderator of the Session, and communionservices were conducted and members received by Pro-fessor Robert Ellis Thompson, of the University ofPennsylvania, now the beloved president of the CentralHigh School. At the request of the Committee of Nine, a congre-gational meeting was called for May 26, 1881, and onthat date the Committee presented to the congregationone name,—the Rev. Hughes Oliphant Gibbons, of An-napolis, Maryland. The election was unanimous, anda committee consisting of John C. Farr, R. T. Haz-zard, and R. M. Schick was appointed to prosecutethe call before Presbytery. The salary was fixed attwenty-five hundred dollars, and the Committee ofNine were delegated to sign the call. The call was accepted, and Hughes Oliphant Gib-bons was installed the eighth pastor of Old Pine StreetChurch on the evening of October 11, 1881. Dr.
