A monster Porcini (Boletus edulis: aka King Bolete). It weighed kgs and measured 28cms across the cap. A real beauty, and bug-free.
Porcini were introduced accidentally to New Zealand on imported Oak Trees from the UK. They are now found throughout the South Island. They are too unreliable for commercial production or harvesting, so are gathered primarily gathered by foragers.
