Army post, arenear the lake shore, about a mile south of Platts-l)iugh Plattsburg, on the west shore of Cumberland Bay,is a thriving city of 8,000 inhabitants. It is of con-siderable commercial importance, being on thedirect line between New York and Montreal, 311miles from the former and 74 miles from the latter. The wararnt conveying the land to him boredate June 11, 1769. The property reverting to thestate after the Revolution, was granted in 1784, toZephaniah Piatt and others, and incorporated intothe town of Plattsburgh, April 4, 1785.
