Virginia Mammoth, (German, Ktirbis.^ Culture. — Plant in May, June or July, in hills eight or ten feet apart, and hoe until the vines get strong. Never plant them in the kitchen garden, as they will hybridize with squashes, and injure the quality of both. One ounce of seed will plant twenty hills; three pounds one acre. Virginia Mammoth. An ex- ceedingly large variety, well adapted to the South. Notwithstanding the enormous size of this mammoth sort, the flesh is fine grained and of ex- cellent flavor.
