A fine German small-sword with silver-inlaid hilt, circa 1690 Double-edged thrusting blade of flattened hexagonal section and the etched (rubbed) inscription "Vivat Prinz Eugenius" on both sides. Chiselled iron hilt with profuse silver inlay. The double shell-guard bears mythological and court figures amid genii surrounded by delicate beadwork strips. Fine twisted copper and iron wire grip wrapping with Turk's heads.
