'End of the Serbian Dynasty', c1903, (1933). Portrait of King Alexander I of Serbia (1876-1903) and his queen consort Draga Masin (1864-1903) who were assassinated by a group of officers from the Royal Serbian Army. Alexander's popularity had declined after his marriage to Draga, a widow who was twelve years older than Alexander, a former lady-in-waiting of his mother Queen Natalija, and a commoner. The King was only 26 years old when he was killed. From "The Pageant of the Century". [Odhams Press Ltd, 1933]
