A white crape myrtle tree (Lagerstroemia) blooms, July 18, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. Crape myrtles can range in height to just a few feet to trees reaching more than 20 feet tall. They produce summer blooms in a variety of colors including white, purple, red, and pink. The common crape myrtle originated from China and Korea and were introduced to the United States in 1790 by French botanist André Michaux.
