Norham Castle in its commanding position above the River Tweed, one of the most important of the Border castles was built in 1121 by the Bishops of Durham a long and turbulent history saw many famous visitors and it's place in history though little known is significant in the Wars and Peace of the Scottish Border. Visitors have included King Edward I, King David of Scotland, Robert the Bruce, Turner, Beatrix Potter, Field Marshal Montogomery.
