The church dates from the 15th. century and is the estate church on the Harewood Estate. The clock is by Hindley of York and is dated 1760. The dial is of eight feet diameter () and there is a single hand. The clock was brought to the church from the mid-18th. century stable range at Plumpton, near Harrogate, built by Daniel Lascelles. Note: Plumpton is sometimes alternatively spelled Plompton.
