30th January 2013. London £3 Billion GBP project to redevelop the site of the former Chelsea barracks has been placed under review and put on hold by its owners Qatari Diar due to ongoing concerns about the UK economy. The Chelsea barracks which housed the Queen's Guard and was built in 1860 was sold by the Ministry of Defence to Qatari Diar in 2007 for £959m. The site has remained undeveloped since the last troops vacated the premises in 2008.
