Healso purchased, for four hundred dollars,lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Block 39; the deedwas jointly executed by Nelson Luding-ton and wife, Perry H. Smith and wife,Harrison Ludington and wife, and Dan-iel Wells and wife. During the eleven years of his pastor-ate in Escanaba Father Langner had alarge territory attached to his parish. To. ST. P.\TRICKs church and house, escanaba, MICHIGAN the West, Garden, Fayette, and IndianPoint; to the South all stations on theNorth-Western as far as Stephenson, andNorth as far as Lathrop. For two yearsFather Martin Fox, prior to his appoint-ment to Menominee in 1873 assisted himin the care of souls and after that receivedoccasional help from the Revs. JohnBrown, James Sweeney, J. C. Kenney,Peter Menard, Luke Mozina and FabianPawlar. Father Langner gave up hischarge June 19, 1881. His immediate successor became Al. Majerus, who remained onlyfrom July 31, 1881 to February 5, Mrak and Father Hyacinth O. took care of the parish until FatherJoseph Nieblings appointment, Feb-ruary 12, 1882. Upon his retirementJanuary 31, 18S3, Rt. Rev. Bishop Mrakwas again in charge of it until August17th of the same year when Bishop Ver-tin ceded the parish to the FranciscanOrder.
