Several florists had effective windows during the Red Cross campaign last week. J. B. Keller Sons displayed a cross in red carnations, blocked out with white, and George T. Boucher had a fig- ure representing a Red Cross nurse in his window. Other stores displayed flags and posters, all of which helped in the campaign for contributions. Chester Ament still is shipping good carnations to this market. Local growers are reported to have a surplus stock of bedding plants, the rainy weather having been against their sale. ' The committee in charge of the peony show held a meeting at Convention hall June 22 and made final arrangements for the display June 29 and 30. A number of New York state growers have prom- ised to furnisli exhibits and it is ex- pected that^ the show will be elaborate. The net proceeds go to the Red Cross. George T. Boucher had an elaborate decoration last week at the Red Cross headquarters in Convention hall. Palms, ferns and flowers were used. J. B. Keller Sons have had extensive alterations made to their downstairs refrigerators. A thick layer of cork and an added layer of cement have made them airproof. H. J. H. GLEN COVE, N. Y.
