Bournemouth, UK Thursday 23 August 2012. A permanent memorial to Red Arrows pilot Flt Lt Jon Egging who died after an airshow display in Bournemouth on 20 August 2011; finishing touches are being made at the site ready for the unveiling by the pilot's widow Dr Emma Egging. A competition was held to come up with a design for the sculpture and the winning design was chosen by the pilot's widow Dr Emma Egging and mother Dawn. The winning design was created by Penny Vallier, 10, and George Cutler, nine, two pupils from Kinson Primary School.

The sculpture was officially unveiled by Dr Emma Egging on Wednesday lunchtime 29th August 2012. The sculpture comprises of three soaring Red Arrows planes crafted from glass and each plane has a five metre long stainless steel mount, featuring red, white and blue glass beads and sweeping smoke effect finish
