Kyle Pater, a senior, competes in the pole vault at the 27th-annual Air Force Invitational held at the Air Force Academy's Cadet Field House in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jan. 21, 2017. Pater became the seventh vaulter in Air Force history to clear 18 feet in the pole vault, as he was the top collegiate finisher in the Elite section with a career-best clearance of 18' 1/2". He finished fourth overall in a field that included two members of the 2016 Olympic Team.
