The image shows soldiers from the 37th Infantry Regiment issuing Celling rolls in the yard at Pier 6, Port of Embarkation. It was taken on March 10, 1919, by George H. Lyon, 2nd Lt., The soldiers are part of the 9,470 troops that arrived on the ship Leviathan at Pier 4, Hoboken, NJ, which included the 371st and 372nd Infantry complete units, part of the 368th, and 2,132 sick and wounded soldiers. The 371st and 372nd Infantry were decorated with the Croix de Guerre and were brigaded with the French. The photo has been approved by the censor.
