J. WooLDREDGE & Co. occupy a four story brick building50x60 feet, at No. 5 Mount Vernon street, for the manufac-ture of ladies, misses and childrens boots and shoes. Thebusiness was commenced in 1842 ; employ 600 hands, turnout 500 pairs per day. Machinery is driven by a steam en-gine of 60 horse power, built by the Atlantic Works, of EastBoston, with two tubular boilers built by Allen & Eudicott, ofCambridgeport, Mass. Mr. Gale has been engaged in the manu-facture of boots and shoes since 1860, and now ships hisgoods to all parts of Now England and the west.
