Josephine G. Fountain, US nurse and inventor. Fountain was a registered nurse at the University of Florida Teaching Hospital and Clinics. She invented the direct suction tracheotomy tube. This was an improved tracheotomy tube which also allowed introduction of gases other than air without reducing the diameter of the tube.
