The Kaudualla and Minneriya National Parks located in North Central Sri Lanka is home to one of the most spectacular elephant phenomenons dubbed "The Gathering of Elephants" where as many as 350 elephants gather during the dry season in September and October every year. The parks are located close proximity to the cultural triangle and several good hotels in Habarana, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandalama, and Polonnaruwa.
