The clinical history and the feverishstate of the patient should give a clue to the nature of the disease, and thesubsequent resolution of the inflammatory process, -with the slow subsidenceof the shadow seen on radiographic examination, will help to clear up thediagnosis. An acute pneumonia may, however, not resolve quickly, anda shadow in the substance of the lung mav be visible for several weeks afterthe inflammatory symptoms have subsided.
