A heavy German Pappenheim rapier, circa 1620 Sturdy, double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section, with triple fullers on each side of the upper third. Fullered ricasso. Iron swept hilt with openwork guard plates on both sides. S-shaped, curved quillons with two knuckle guards and knuckle-bows on each side, these decorated all over with finely chiselled fullers. Fluted grip with iron wire winding and Turk's heads. Slightly tapered pommel with several fullers.
